South London singer-songwriter Lola Young champions a modern perspective on womanhood in her game-changing visuals for her fresh single ‘Woman’. The video captures female bodies, of all shapes and sizes, as their owners dance in the nude, displaying their imperfect, beautiful femininity.

Young introduces the music video with a mission statement: “I’m only gonna say this once. What you’re about to see is women, in all their glory, in all their pain; unapologetic in their self-love and unashamed in this moment of vanity.” Body positivity may be on the rise, but there remains an enormous pressure for women to meet some incredibly high standards when it comes to how we look, what we wear and how we behave. We’re encouraged to pipe down, preen, prune, slather and shave - to strip ourselves of our natural individuality in favour of a more desirable disguise. At 19 years old, Lola Young knows these societal standards are bullshit.
