RIMON - 20/20 [Video]

Having returned to her home country of Ethiopia for only the second time in her life, Ethiopian/Eritrean singer-songwriter RIMON crafted ’20/20’ as part love letter, part apology to her country, the earth and mother nature. According to RIMON, her desire to apologise came from a place of an all-too-relatable realisation that she’s invested too much of herself into her digital world and online presence.

For the video, filming in certain areas of Ethiopia was difficult, but it was of the utmost importance for RIMON to capture the beauty of the country’s people and nature without conflict and politics casting a shadow over the love and warmth she holds towards her fatherland. Created in collaboration with production company Blue Nuit (who she worked with on the visuals for ‘What They Called Me’) and colour grader Dante Giani, the evocative film soulfully captures the humanity of a place that is so much more than the turmoil it has suffered, the sentiment bolstered by RIMON’s thoughtful lyrics acting as a poignant narrative.

In a comment on the video’s YouTube page, RIMON writes: “Please do me a favor and take it all in, every second, don’t be distracted, be present especially in times where our attention span is deteriorating, but that’s the point of this piece. To all the beautiful people that worked on this, I’m forever grateful for your energy and presence and making this film what it is, this one is for Ethiopia. This one is for Mother Nature. SPREAD THE WORD FOR ME PLEASE 🇪🇹 Bless”
