The DSTNGR Show | Oroko Radio | 17 June 2022

A dose of sultry goodness immersed with splashes of electronic sounds, we return for the third instalment of The DSTNGR Show on Oroko Radio. Opening with Ego Ella May’s beautiful rendition of Chico Hamilton’s ‘Morning Side of Love’, taken from the ‘Blue Note Re:imagined II’ album due for release 30 September 2022. The album features an array of hotly tipped artists from the UK jazz, soul and R&B scene.

We follow with ‘Lost & Found’ by Leeds collective Gotts Street Park, featuring Brazilian-Norwegian jazz singer Charlotte Dos Santos. Keeping the vibes mellow and smooth before introducing somewhat of a wildcard, with New Zealand artist FERBY and her track ‘Bad Vibes Stuck In My Teeth’. DISCLAIMER: we messed up and said Australian on the show, apologies… eeeaaak!

Alté artist BOJ makes an appearance on the show with his track ‘Get Out The Way’, featuring Ghana’s Kofi Jamar and Joey B. Easily a favourite from the show, throwing some much needed Ghanaian Drill vibes into the mix. Crossing over to some drum and bass, with the Zero T remix of ‘Energy’ by sister duo MELONYX, released via Brighton based record label Tru Thoughts.

From the club to UK rap, we shine light on the likes of BXKS with her latest ‘Collateral Damage’, MINIKINGZ, formed of BenjiFlow, Ragz Originale and Oscar #Worldpeace with their track ‘New Skin Care’ and then onto emerging Wolverhampton based artist NEONE the Wonderer, a very talented producer and lyricist who we pleasantly discovered down at The Great Escape music showcase. His track ‘Never Die’ is definitely one to mentally marinate.

If you’re yet to come across hip hop group Coast Contra, then let us introduce you! Taken from their debut album ‘Apt 505’ we give you ‘2 Phone Jack’, if anything just a teaser to the incredible offering from this super exciting and consciously geared group. If you’ve watched the film ‘Queen & Slim’, then you’ve definitely heard the soundtrack title single by Coast Contra, featuring BJ The Chicago Kid.

Coasting into the end of the show, we get ‘Stuck In The Middle’ with Greentea Peng, before closing out with the El Train remix of ‘Go’ by future soul and electronica duo Anushka, compliments of Tru Thoughts record label, once again (we love them)!

Press play and enjoy 60 minutes of magical musical vibes below…
