South London’s Shaybo drops the video for her emotive heart-felt single ‘My Sister’ featuring Jorja Smith. The track hears the Queen of the South reveal a more vulnerable side than we’ve seen before, as she relays the horrible experience of watching a loved one go through an abusive relationship.

“You keep on wipin' your eyes, tryna keep the pain in // Standing strong by your guy because you think you'll save him // All this is gaslightin' got you hallucinatin' // Are you in love with the angel or are you hooked on Satan? // Why you sayin' you're sorry when you know you should hate him”

Her lyricism in this track seems especially poignant, drawing upon raw emotions to convey the hurt and anger she brings to life as she directly appeals to her female listeners. The video, directed by Tash Tung, sees the two artists come together once again inside the setting of a grand Church. Having previously featured on Jorja Smith’s ‘Bussdown’, Shaybo now takes centre stage ready with graciousness and originality. The visuals are as moving as the song itself, with an attention to detail and characters that bring out the deep heartache and pain of all those involved.

The single is taken off the Nigerian-born, Lewisham rapper’s debut project, appropriately titled ‘Queen of the South’ which features collaborations with Haile, DreamDoll and Wale. It’s already received critical acclaim and cements Shaybo’s place as a leading voice in the UK music scene.
