DI PETSA continues exploration of ‘Self Birth’ with second chapter of their Wetness Performance

Skin is celebrated in a state of decorated nakedness…

In a time where the body and skin is analysed excessively and opinions of showing too much or too little skin are circling in conversation endlessly, feeling ashamed of our bodies at times is understandable. Di Petsa however, are aiming to weaken the feeling of shame specifically in regards to the bodies natural fluids. They are doing so by building on their wetness theory with this collection, through the concept of self birth.

Displaying poetic scripts such as “Cries in Public”, “Holy Water”, “Sea Water” and “Wetness” inscribed across the garments, this collection is made up of 15 new pieces. New styles include biker shorts, leggings, tube tops and mini dresses, making this collection as wearable as it is meaningful. The capsule collection is made from stretch mesh fabric with the purpose of allowing the freedom to move and breathe, and is showcased in the brands classic colour ways; white and navy blue. The brands signature technique, ‘The Wetlook’ which mirrors the folds of wet fabric with garments hand draped and sewn to create fluid silhouettes, was used to create a backless dress, top and bralette.

The concept behind these items is that they can be worn as “a script to your performance of everyday life.” Quite literally wearing confidence on your sleeve.

“The wearer as performer, the garment as script,” is a slogan associated with this collection. Launching within a new editorial campaign, the images depict the collection being worn by models during the rehearsals for DI PETSA’s Wetness Performance. The performance itself was an exercise in healing through the act of movement.
