Trinidad-born, Romford-based rapper, singer, songwriter and producer BERWYN unveils his bittersweet new single, ‘RUBBER BANDS’ and announces the drop date for his second album, ‘TAPE 2/FOMALHAUT’.

Out June 18th via Columbia, the followup to alternative R&B artist BERWYN’s debut ‘DEMOTAPE/VEGA’ has big boots to fill. His first project was built in two intense weeks, fueled “by weed and insomnia” and revealed, with raw emotionality, the artist’s experiences living on the fringes of London society over ten hypnotic and deeply evocative tracks. But the release of ‘RUBBER BANDS’ indicates that the forthcoming project will not disappoint. A simultaneously melancholic yet mellow mix of sparse synths and heartbeat drums, the single sets a spacious scene for BERWYN’s rich vocals to effortlessly express the intricate emotional experience that he finds himself facing. Far from being a simple break-up track, ‘RUBBER BAND’ delves into the effects of living without money, chronicling the strain it puts on an otherwise loving relationship through BERWYN’s stark and simple statements, “Baby we were flat / On our back / In the slums.” Directed by Taz Tron Delix (Stormzy, Headie One) the visuals that accompany this tune mirror its wistful mood and whirlwind of mixed feelings, capturing BERWYN’s character as he smokes weed and imagines idyllic moments spent with his ex in a world of their own.
