Royal - Gutter [Video]

As much inspired by gospel music as hip-hop tunes, UK artist Royal offers a window into his bold and pioneering sound with new single ‘Gutter’.

Throughout the genre-bending track, Royal’s slick verses, rhythms and rhymes burst with energy and bravado amid the playful chaos created by warped guitar melodies and riffy strings. The high-octane atmosphere is propelled by Royal’s snappily delivered vocals which hit us as hard as the track’s propulsive drum beats, but it’s undeniably Royal’s range in delivery and tone which makes ‘Gutter’ truly stand out as he croons, raps and even groans - dragging us into his whirlwind of emotions while we simply enjoy the bumpy ride.

“Gutter was born at a late night, boozy band rehearsal when life was very unpredictable for myself and the people around me,” Royal explains. “This is a track about redistributing one’s pain into avenues that allow you to feel empowered again.”
