Newly signed to relaunched record label, Big Dada, Yaya Bey drops grooving R&B “ode to hood joints”, ‘fxck it then’.

The Brooklyn musician and singer offers more of her enticing rhythmic neo-soul sound as she gears up for the release of her EP ‘The Things I Can’t Take With Me’, which is due for release on April 9. If her previous, critically acclaimed album ‘Madison Tapes’ is anything to go by, the upcoming record is set to be something special. With ‘fxck it then’, Yaya Bey channels the vintage-leaning feel of her warm and sultry tune into its stylish, intimate music video, which, through the lens of a super 8 film aesthetic, captures the artist smoking, dancing and playing a cheeky card game amongst friends. Via empowering, joyful lyrics which champion self-love and confidence, Bey’s vocals are melodic and rich throughout, making this an easy track to get into.

‘The Things I Can’t Take With Me’ EP will be the result of songs written following a sudden and unexpected breakup. According to Bey, “[The project] is going to be about the journey home to self. But on the way, there’s all this shit I gotta let go of, just the things I can’t take with me.”
