Johan Lenox - phases feat Cousin Stizz [Video]

Multi-talented musician, singer and producer Johan Lenox teams up with rapper and fellow Bostonian Cousin Stizz for ‘Phases’, a smooth mix of digital beats and live orchestral flutes, violins and cellos.

With plenty of production experience under his belt working with the likes of Travis Scott, Kanye West, Teyanna Taylor and Ty Dolla $ign, Johan Lenox has shown he can also thrive in centre-stage as an artist in his own right. The collaboration with rap artist Cousin Stizz gives us an exciting taste of Lenox’s forthcoming solo record, ‘What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up’, and follows on from his recent work assisting Big Sean on his number 1 album, ‘Detroit 2’ and collaborating with KOTA The Friend and Lil Keed.

Johan Lenox gives us a hint of what’s to come on the forthcoming album, explaining “I try to understand why it feels impossible right now to reach adulthood or even just some sense of maturity. Is this my own personal failing, or is my entire generation doomed in our struggle to attain an American Dream that never really existed? Or both?

On ‘Phases’, my character rolls their eyes a bit at friends who make big, seemingly arbitrary life changes in an attempt to better themselves. It's not clear if I'm supposed to be in the right here. Meanwhile, fellow Massachusetts artist Cousin Stizz sings about needing to keep moving and not always having the luxury to dick around in the way that I seem content to do. After working with Stizz as a producer on his last album it was an honor to have him bless this track with his words.”
