Amsterdam singer-songwriter Joya Mooi, offers an understated ode to disobedience in the form of a silky-smooth R&B jam, entitled ‘Good Girl’.

Following her 2020 releases ‘Hold You Tight’ and ‘Bitter Parts’, the emerging R&B artist teams up with producer Blazehoven, for the catchy summer track built on trap-inspired beats. The cool instrumentals lay a great foundation for Joya’s smoky, soothing vocals. Directed by 33Bound’s Natalie Wilson, the track’s music video follows Joya as she plays basketball and hangs out around Brixton with her girls, enjoying their friendship and a shared sense of independence.

Speaking on the release, Joya says, “We’re moulded from an early age to behave, not to cuss, be slightly attractive - but not too much. I think when I was young I could feel the subtleties, the ways I felt restrained. Still sadly enough I think I still internalised some. These patriarchal manners suppress self-expression and emancipation.”
