Back in March, Massachusetts born rapper Joyner Lucas made a point to highlight the fact that as a community, we only tend to celebrate our heroes when they’re gone. Turning the fact right on it’s head, he delivered to us his track and video entitled ‘Will’ - an honest declaration to how inspirational award-winning actor and rapper Will Smith, has been in his life. The video sees Joyner play out a number of characters across Smith’s acting career from ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ right through to Walt Disney’s ‘Aladdin.’ The track is taken from Joyner’s debut album ‘ADHD’ released in March 2020.

Fast forward to last week and the man himself has jumped on the remix. Smith takes to the track impressively, sharing those who inspired him to become the man he is today and also dropping roses on the likes of Jazzy Jeff and Martin Lawrence, who are extremely prominent figures in Smith’s personal success. One thing that really stuck out, is Smith’s mention of his trajectory to date, earned by truly being himself. Even when coined as “corny” by the hip hop industry, he kept going and look at him today.
