Fashion Scout’s array of international designers were in full swing throughout the weekend and with a wave of creativity coming over from the East, they didn’t come to disappoint. Three Chinese fashion labels collaborated for the first time, to showcase their collections at London Fashion Week. Consisting of established designer Esa Liang, Gothic inspired brand Punk Rave and the Fashion Design Academy ‘Light & Shadow Design.’ Each of the collections portraying their own signature style, with hints of East Asian aesthetics.

PUNK RAVE

Providing the wearer with an recognisable identity, as the name suggests, Punk Rave appeals to the modern day followers of punk inspired fashion. Infusing the essence of ‘Punk Spirit,’ challenging establishments and refusing to follow societal norms, the Punk Rave brand reflects the characteristics of rebellion. For SS20 the collection is made up of black and white looks. The white offering, serving fierce shapes creating an image of angelic dominance, whilst the black deliver sexiness, with the use of fitted lace and PVC. Although restrictive of colour, definitely an impressive collection. It’s certainly no surprise why the brand is extremely popular within Goth and Punk communities across the East and the West.

LIGHT & SHADOW - COLLECTION 1

Appealing to avant-garde fashion lovers, who believe their clothing reflects their passionate and positive attitudes to life, The Light & Shadow Global Fashion Design Academy produce collections for not only the different seasons but also the different times of day - light and shadow. The brands collections are always creative and experimental, as they encourage their students to push boundaries with their creativity.

ESA LIANG

The transition of tones in Esa Liang’s SS20 collection is what I find most intriguing. It’s as though every single piece has a specific story to tell. Her work is said to be characterised by her desire to constantly develop and never repeat, which is clearly apparent throughout the collection.
